Donaldson Farms was founded by Dr. David Donaldson in 2007 in Sardis, Mississippi. His heart's desire was to see the land that his late father and himself hold so dear to flourish into a family legacy for generations to come. Dr. Donaldson has worked his life to add to the modest plot of untamed land his father left before; by adding additional acreage, establishing rotational pastures and crops, livestock and out-buildings.
With help from his two veteran sons Joshua Donaldson (medically retired Air Force Veteran), Jacob Donaldson (medically retired US Army veteran) and his daughter Jessica Donaldson Jones, they have brought the family farm that the generations before dreamed of into reality.
Dr. David Donaldson has an impeccable reputation within the greater North Mississippi area due to his private counseling practice as well as his previous nonprofit work with abused and neglected children serving the same area.
Dr. Donaldson brings a wealth of wisdom to the farm through his life experience with business management and personal knowledge gained through decades of working with livestock. Until his retirement, Dr. Donaldson will continue to oversee the business operations of the farm and provide sound counsel on future farm expansion plans and/or investments.
Jessica Donaldson Jones has over two decades of grant writing experience and nonprofit work, linking her closely with the community and various foundations/organizations across the country. Her previous experience with nonprofit management, financial planning and prior work with regenerative farming practices makes her the missing element for the success of this family owned and operated farm. Her grant writing skill-set will prove to be beneficial in a multitude of ways with primary focus on a strategic grant submission schedule spanning government, local and private grant funding opportunities.
As the Chief Operating Officer of Donaldson Farms, she oversees all of the day to day business while keeping our eyes to the future with her well researched business plans. Her endless pursuit of knowledge, adds an additional level to her responsibilities as she widens her skill-set and education catered specifically for the future of Donaldson Farms.
Along with her husband, Timothy Jones, who has over 15 years of chef experience as well as animal husbandry (he likes to joke that he knows the animal from snoot to toot) they have added the newest expansion for the farm, Lapinshire Rabbitry at Donaldson Farms. The ARBA registered Rabbitry is still within its first year of development with an extensive growth and added value plan that will provide not only financial support to the farm but also act as a natural source for fertilizer for crops and soil health.
A set business plan with strict financial, construction and production goals is the foundation to any successful farm.
By laying out a well-researched farm plan complete with milestone markers and achievable goals, we will ensure that all divisions within the farm operate as a well-oiled machine trucking along the road of achievement, profit, and positive community impact.
We ensure that our customers are 100% satisfied with the quality of the livestock, meat, and/or services we provide. We know that without diligent quality customer service any business will fail. That is why we are dedicated to treating our customers with respect, dignity and understanding.
We have a steadfast dedication to our philosophy that while 100% customer satisfaction is required to ensure a profitable business, the well-being of the livestock and land within our care are what allow us to have a business and therefore must always remain our highest priority. Profits come through the production of a quality product. Maintaining the health of our livestock ensures that we are delivering hardy stock for our customers regardless of their future intended purpose.
Good stewardship of what has been entrusted to us as farmers is paramount to the core beliefs held by Donaldson Farms. At Donaldson Farms, we all have ties to the nonprofit sector that we grew up working within and serving. With that in mind, it is no surprise that at the heart of Donaldson Farms is a compassionate one. Currently, we provide for numerous disabled and/or elderly, low-income families with fresh eggs and processed beef free of charge as often as surplus allows. We believe that through giving back to others struggling, the farm truly will serve the community we are so proud to be a part of within Mississippi.
